Networking? I think not....

So here at the lovely Brandbuzz we are looking for a Media Planner since my buddy Maria is leaving us to persue a life doing good instead of evil. We are going through non-traditional avenues, since its never in the budget nowadays to pay for a recruiter or post on a paid job board. We posted on Craigslist and we are keeping our ears to the ground.

I thought it would be a good idea to search on Myspace for candidates, I mean there's a "networking" section... So I search under "marketing" then "media planning," the appropriate zip code range, and an age range to help weed out the "too experienced." And lucky me! 200+ peeps!

I started going through the people, and all of them had that they were using Myspace for "networking." But I beg to differ. Out of the 200+ people I sent messages to 6. Why so little? Well, even though people mention they are there for "networking" most of the people's profiles were R-rated to say the least!

I just can't picture working with someone who writes in the first line of their about me: "I have little hair on my balls." or "I like to DRINK DRINK DRINK until I puke." Or has pictures of themselves posted doing body shots, or them and their 3 friend's grabbing their boobies. Granted I am sure that the people I work with do these things, and its all really no big deal. But if you are going to put that you are on Myspace for "networking" maybe you should consider that a potential employer is going to look you up on Myspace!

Anywoo... if you know anyone with a conservative Myspace page that is a media planner, send them my way. Here's the job description:
