Secretly Unstable

I have been told I am crazy, funny, a good cook, and a decent blogger. These are the expectations I am trying to live up to. Thank you.

Ode to Summer 2006

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. So this blog is my way of complimenting Bitch Cakes on her superior blogs. She has inspired me to reflect on this past summer. It all went by way too fast. But it was a really good time:

* Sunday Drinking - we took Sunday Drinking to a new high this summer. Sure you can Sunday drink all year long, but this summer we took it to the max. Faye bartending the late shift at Magnetic Field was the perfect compliment to Mike bartending during the day at Iona. And to end the summer we had what will go down as the best Sunday Drinking day ever this past Sunday. Big ups to Derek, Danny, Janina, Mike, Sarah, Virginia, Milo, Carli, Faye, Devon, Brad, and Jeff for making it all possible. For those of you who weren't there, you missed a damn good time... two of the highlights: we sang "Summer of '69" at the top of our lungs and watch two drunk ass girls tumble to the ground in a loud bang.

*Chicago Trip - Visiting my brother and his fiancee was a lovely time. We ate well and enjoyed a great city.

*Maryland Trip - Kate hooked me us with a wonderful weekend get-a-way that included the beach, boardwalk, and booze. Not to mention the good eats.

*Summer Fridays - I am already mourning the seven Fridays that I had off this summer. I enjoy the four-day work week much more than the five-day work week.

*Fairway - Fresh Direct who? Fairway rules. It inspired me to drive for goodness sake. I really love Fairway. Who knew grocery shopping could kick so much ass.

*Girl Friends - I have the best friends in the whole wide world. They make summer so awesome. They are fun, true, and reliable. They are all smart and enhance my life. I beached with Sarah. I shopped/brunched/mani/pedi with Janina. I lunched with Justine. I BBQed with Virginia. I shared Ketel One with Carli. I dined with Francesa. The list goes on and on.

*Breezy Point - Its the weirdest place in NYC, but its the best beach experience.

*Catskills - My parents are the supreme hosts. They treat us so well when we go there. Cocktails anyone?

*Ghet-toes - $8 $5 for the design. You can't beat the pedicure deal I get at my local nail salon. Hot pink polish with a black star and black french pedicure... oh and don't forget the "diamonds."

It was a really good summer. Crazy how fast it goes by. Thank goodness I love the fall, or else I would be in mourning. That and the fact that we can Sunday drink all year round gets me through the day.
