Secretly Unstable

I have been told I am crazy, funny, a good cook, and a decent blogger. These are the expectations I am trying to live up to. Thank you.

For the past 3-4 television seasons I have been searching for a replacement for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Sad, I know. But its so very true. Once Buffy the Vampire Slayer was canceled I was left without a television show to obsess over. I like to obsess over things, and television is a healthy (or healthier) thing to obsess over than... well... I guess a lot of things. So my search started.

I had a year of Angel, which was a strong substitute, especially since Spike got on the show. Then it was canceled. I watched Smallville for awhile, but couldn't get into it. I started getting into shows like Freaks & Geeks, Roswell, and Firefly. The problem with this strategy is that these shows have already been canceled. So I would finish the DVD sets and that's it. I tried watching reality TV, but that was a bust. I couldn't obsess about crazy real people on television, that would be creepy.

So I gave up.

About a year later I heard good things about a show called Lost. I borrowed the 1st season from a coworker and I was instantly hooked. Now its no Buffy, and there is no Spike, but it was good enough to watch for a 2nd season. I was happy to have one show to watch. Then I started thinking, "if Lost is this good, maybe there are other good shows on television." So like a pathetic snow ball, in a give an inch, take a mile scenario, I started watching more television.

With the help of a DVR, cool new shows, a better attitude about reality TV, and advice of friends I now watch WAY TOO MUCH TV. I went from 0 to more than 0. Its crazy. Here's a list and my thoughts about all of the terrible awesome television I now watch.

Lost
Now in its 3rd season, they are still annoying the crap out of us with all of the questions. Sure we found out what is in the hatch, but that bought up a whole list of new questions. They never addressed that weird thing of smoke or the polar bears, but its still damn good. I love and hate how I have to watch every second the show is on, you really have to pay attention. No blog writing while Lost is on. No cooking dinner or playing tug of war with Sweetpea. You must watch every moment, and sometimes you have to rewind and watch it again. Don' be distracted. ABC-7 at 9PM on Wednesdays.

Grey' Anatomy
I can' believe I started watching this show. I had to catch up to the 1st & 2nd seasons and now I am on track watching the 3rd season. This is not my typical kind of show. There' no sci-fi element, no vampires, no aliens. Its a drama. About doctors. What the hell do I care about that? I dunno, but I watch the show. And I like it. Sure they make women look like they can' handle a career and a love life. But its juicy and high drama. Plus the men are pretty. Oh and it also makes me think I have strange disease. ABC-7 at 9PM on Thursdays.

Veronica Mars
I started watching this show because Joss Whedon (creator of Buffy, Angel, and Firefly) said it is "he smartest show on television." What he says is law, so I watch. And I like. Its not incredibly deep or complex. I can definitely write a blog and play with Sweetpea. Veronica Mars is like Nancy Drew + wise ass. I like to pretend that I am 17 again and watching this show helps. CW-11 at 9PM on Tuesdays.

Battlestar Galactica
Since I am a sci-fi fan and this is a science fiction show you aren't going to believe me when I say that this is a great show, regardless of it being in the sci-fi genre. Its a great drama. The writers take crazy risks and show kicks ass. The characters are deep and cool. The storyline is complex and interesting. Sci-Fi at 9PM on Fridays

Heroes
This is a new show this season. Lots of characters (seems to be a theme with the new shows). Its a sci-fi show, so again, you won't believe me when I say its good. There are been three episodes and they haven't explained anything or answered any questions. I have a feeling that its going to be a very long time until they start answering any questions. But you can tell its going somewhere cool. The story revolves around 5 people who have special powers but don't know each other and they somehow had to come together and save the world. Oh and there is a really cool bad guy that kills people with household objects. I told you its complex. ABC-7 at 9PM on Mondays.

Jericho
Another new show. I didn't think I had the time to take on another show, but I couldn't resist a potential end of the world story. It looks like all US major cities were blown up by nukes. Was it terrorists, aliens, or rebels? Are they going to have to repopulate the planet? When are they going to run out of beer? Trust me, these are the questions I would be concerned with. CBS-2 at 8PM on Wednesdays.

The Nine
Oh yeah, one more new show. I have only watched one episode, but I like the idea. Nine people, oh wait ten people are held hostage in a bank. 48 hours goes by and they are released and the story is about what happened in those last 48 hours. I dunno how they are going to do flashbacks for an entire season, but I am willing to find out. ABC-7 at 10PM on Wednesdays.

America's Next Top Model
This is my favorite reality show. I love to watch those skinny bitches fight and make fools of themselves. I just can't watch how they twist their ankles in those crazy high heels. Tyra Banks is crazy, but Nigel (one of the judges) is hot and he told a girl last week that she is "little fruit and nut, but I like that." Its also fun to talk about the next day at work. CW-11 at 8PM on Wednesdays.

Weeds
Even with all of these shows kicking butt, Weeds kicks the biggest butt. It really rocks. Best show on television right now. This show has balls. Big balls. I crack up laughing every episode. Its so well written and it goes to a very bad place, a very funny bad place, but a bad place. I ordered Showtime just for this show. Showtime at 10PM on Mondays.

Dexter
I am happy this show just started, now at least I pay for Showtime for two good reasons. Its twisted, scary, gross, and freaky. I feel like I want to hide in the closet when it is over, but it scares me so good. Who knew i would cheer for the serial killer. Showtime at 10PM on Sundays.

Ugly Betty
Selma Hayek is my girl crush and she is the producer of this comedy based on a popular novella. How can you not support a show about an ugly duckling that rocks the fashion magazine world. If you have anything to do with Conde Nast you would appreciate this show. Get those snobby publishing hoes! ABC-7 at 8PM on Thursdays.

Bones
The only reason I watch the show is because Angel (or the actor that played Angel, whatever) is an FBI agent that works with this forensic doctor lady that analyzes bones and such. Its pretty graphic and every show there is a nasty shot of rotting body parts, but the show is pretty interesting. And Angel, I mean detective guy, is hot. Fox-5 at 8PM on Wednesdays.

Little People, Big World
Reality show about a midget family. Enough said. TLC at 8PM on Saturday.

So yes, this is a lot of terrible television. But I promise I will never watch American Idol. Never.
