I have been told I am crazy, funny, a good cook, and a decent blogger. These are the expectations I am trying to live up to. Thank you.

Secret to Success

I do not mean this blog to sound arrogant, or to act like I am "all knowing." But my short life experience has led me to some conclusions about how to be successful. Success can be defined in many ways, but in general we are talking about doing well at whatever you apply yourself at. Whether that be school, career, love, fun, cleaning the apartment, writing a blog, etc.

I was having a conversation with my good friend Candace. We are both successful in our careers. We are both 4 years younger than our peers. And we both agree that you just have to do 3 things to be successful. So here is the secret to succees:

a.) SHOW UP

b.) SHOW UP ON TIME

c.) STAY UNTIL IT IS DONE

That is it. Show up, show up on time, and stay until it is done. Simple as that. You can apply these three things to anything.

SHOW UP: Whenever I talk to someone entering college and they are nervous about doing well. My advice is: never miss class and never hand in anything late. I swear that is all I did in college. I was working full time and partying and I always went to class and I never handed in a simple assignment late. I graduated with honors. I hardly ever did the assigned reading, I am an average tester. And I never had time to kiss any professor's ass. All I did was show up and hand things in on time. I started with an A+... If you do not show up and/or hand an assignment in late you start with a B or worse. Why the hell would you do that?

SHOW UP ON TIME: Nothing pisses people at work off more than someone who arrives late for a meeting. Does the late comer not realize that its a form of disrespect to everyone that has showed up on time? Like their time is more valuable. So the late comer can present the best ideas in the world, but who cares, you are just the asshole that showed up late with no regard for anyone but yourself.

STAY UNTIL IT IS DONE: And nothing is worse than someone that can't commit to finishing something. You start, you finish. There is a beginning and an end to every project. You get the job done. You move on to the next thing. The more efficient you are the better, but in the end you just have the finish. So many people start something and walk away. Relationships, career paths, novels, party plans, etc. You have to see everything to it's end. Some projects take 10 minutes, others take a lifetime, but you have to finish.

So remember: Show up, show up on time, and stay until it is done. (Especially if it is my freaking meeting and project.)
