I have been told I am crazy, funny, a good cook, and a decent blogger. These are the expectations I am trying to live up to. Thank you.

Sunday DRINKING!

In my "things I love" blog the number one thing was Sunday Drinking. Not that the list was in any particular order, but I must admit, Sunday Drinking did come to my mind first.

Sunday drinking is so much fun, that if I look at my life and how it will probably change over the years, I think that I will always maintain some level of Sunday drinking. You all know me, and you all know I am not a very big drinker, so its not like I am looking for an excuse to booze it up. I just really like Sunday drinking.

The most important factor in enjoying Sunday drinking is Monday Anxiety. I don't know if you suffer from Monday anxiety like I do. But I literally am anxious Sunday night about the start of the work week. I used to think that I drank too much coffee on Sundays, or ate food that was too rich. But the reality is that Sunday nights suck. I am all nervous about the week ahead. Why? I have no clue. Maybe the thought of work makes me anxious. Maybe its the end of the weekend blues. Maybe I did have too much coffee. Whatever the reason for my Monday anxiety, I got it bad. Ask Derek. I toss and turn. I can't sleep. I think about horrible things. I wake up in cold sweats. I have bad dreams. Its terrible. Sunday drinking puts an end to Monday anxiety. Simple as that.

Sunday drinking is also great because I have all of this energy to do it. Usually I get to sleep in on Sunday, leisurely wake up and start my day. I get to the bar around 4ish and leave around 9. Which means I am not too tired or cranky. I can enjoy a pretty long run of drinking, without worrying about getting home too late. On Fridays I am usually too tired to stay out after a day of working and on Saturdays we start way too late, 10PM . Maybe we should all start drinking earlier in the day on Saturday. Drinking earlier might be a wonderful Sunday drinking learning that we can apply to other days.

There is also something about getting dinner delivered to you at the bar during the Sunday drinking. Around 7 or so, we call up for local food delivery of pizza, hamburgers, tacos, or other various bad for you food, and enjoy a fun dinner at the bar with friends. No stress. Good times. And we all know that being tipsy makes the food taste that much better.

Getting older to me means a getting annoyed easily by crowded bars. On Sunday this is hardly a worry. The bars that we have gone to are comfortably crowded. Which means everyone gets a seat, and no one is in bad mood from getting pushed around. Of course if the joys of Sunday night drinking are known to the general public this postive attribute of Sunday drinking is jeopardized. Hopefully the general public is too busy with church and regretting their Saturday nights to come out on Sunday.

Generally, you can enjoy the above Sunday drinking happenings at any bar you go to. But our Sunday drinking experiences as enhanced by the establishments that we frequent. Iona in Williamsburg is the number one Sunday drinking destination. First reason being that the bartender ROCKS. (Shot out to Mike, without Mike Sunday drinking wouldn't be as awesome.) Second the DJ is great. You get to sit and listen to reggae, while enjoying a Hoegarden. There is also the advantage of great food delivery nearby. There's Taco Chulo, Coney's, and Soma. You can even order some burgers from Soma and supplement the meal with Jalopeno Poppers from Coney's. Genius.

Our second Sunday drinking choice is Moonshine in Red Hook. Here at Moonshine we enjoy all of the usual Sunday drinking perks, with the added bonus of bring Sweetpea with us to party with her bulldog pals. The 3rd Sunday of every month we bring her to her bulldog meet up. She can play with her pals, while her parents meet new people, drink 1/2 price drinks, watch Pretty Woman on the TV, listen to county music, play Big Buck Hunter, order up some pizza, and eat dill favored potato chips. Its good times all around. (Shot out to Nick, the owner of Moonshine, who is a terrific host.)

Moving forward I believe we have a Plan B, if Mike is not working at Iona's and if its not a Bulldog meet up. (Which will occur this Sunday, 4/30, thanks to Janina and horseshow.) We have Magnetic Field. Magnetic Field is my favorite bar for every other day of the week, so why not Sunday!(Shot out to Lee, and their newest drink slinger Faye.) Magnetic Field will be the perfect Sunday drinking Plan B. Close to home, good delivery establishments nearby, and no meter parking on Atlantic Avenue on Sunday. I can see it now. Derek enjoying the IPA, me having some Fruit Punch (aka Rasberry Vodka and Cranberry Juice, shot out to Virginia and Maria for that introduction.) GOOD TIMES.

So to recap, nothing beats Sunday drinking. Its the best day in the week to throw back a couple of adult beverages. Its the best day to mellow out with friends and have good laughs. And it kills Monday anxiety dead. You all must join us in Sunday drinking. For those of you who already take advantage of Sunday drinking, testify here! Sing your praises. And for those of you who have yet to participate, you know what you are missing and you know where we will be this Sunday.

Now, ask me how it impacts Monday morning.... and that is a different blog all together!
